An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join our friendly and dedicated team as an Associate Speciality General Manager (ASGM) on a permanent basis.
As an ASGM you will be a core part of the Nottingham Children’s Hospital Management Group to facilitate service improvement and improved quality of care across the Specialties that are under your portfolio.
You will work closely with the Specialty General Manager, Deputy General Manager and Heads of Service to ensure effective service development, operational management and delivery of high quality patient services for your clinical areas. We have a clear agenda relating to service redesign, reducing health inequalities, modernisation, and new ways of working to meet the ever-growing levels of patient activity and service demands. A logical thinker with strong organisational and influencing skills is a key requirement for this role.

Main duties of the job
We are looking to recruit staff whose values are in line with our Trust values. We are a large and busy healthcare provider and want staff who are resilient, focused and who have a “can do attitude”.
Applicants for this busy and dynamic role will need to have demonstrable experience of monitoring and managing healthcare targets, a team of other staff and also budgets at a basic level. It will also be essential that they understand health service provision. They will also be an excellent communicator, both verbal and written, and will need to understand and report on complex performance information.

Nottingham Children’s Hospital is part of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and accommodates children and young people from birth to 19 years old. We have 97 beds and care for around 40,000 children each year from Nottinghamshire and beyond, treating a full range of conditions.

- Post graduate (or equivalent) business or management qualification or significant experience in an operational business management role with well-developed business management skills
- Experience within the healthcare sector at a management level.
- Evidence of having achieved challenging healthcare/business targets
- Knowledge and understanding of secondary care funding regime – e.g. Commissioning, Payment by Results and Service Level Agreements.
- High level of computer literacy, including good knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Experience of the line managing staff and human resource management, including management of sickness and performance
- Experience of managing healthcare resources
- Experience of Childrens services
- Experience of preparing costing and pricing models

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.

NUH will scan your ID and right to work documentation in to the Trust ID system at your face to face ID appointment. The system will run a check against the key security features within your documentation. The system will provide us with an outcome of your check which will be stored securely on your personal file along with all other pre-employment check documentation.
- Transfer of information: If I have previous NHS service - I consent to the transfer of my Electronic Staff Record (ESR) data between this and other NHS Trusts. I also consent to the Occupational Health Departmentconfidentially accessing my occupational health records from my current or previous employer in order to check the status of my vaccinations, immunisations s and screening tests as relevant to the post. I understand this is an automated process and the information will only be used for these purposes prior to me taking up the position at NUH.
- Disclosure and Barring Service: Your post maybe subject to a DBS check which incur a cost dependent on the level of check required (£41.90 for enhanced and £21.90 for standard). I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check if it is required (by deduction from first month’s pay). Should I decide to withdraw from my job offer, I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of the DBS check undertaken by cheque or other agreed method.
