We are currently recruiting for a Director of Events at the May Fair, a Radisson Collection Hotel



Overview:


  • This role is highly visible, entails responsibility over the groups and events budget delivery at this flagship hotel. The Director of Events will report into the Head of Sales for the Group, and whilst being based at the hotel you will work in close cooperation with the hotel’s General Manager and Operational Team, Director of Sales and central teams.
  • This is a great opportunity for a talented, organised, proactive, analytical and ambitious individual to join our team.
  • Director of Events manages Groups and Event Sales at the hotel, ensures that the team adheres to the set standards in response, conversion and event planning.
  • Important focus areas include training and coaching of the team, completion of administrative tasks, reporting, business analytics; achievement of property revenue goals, supervising and coaching of the team to increase revenue conversion and optimise the total revenue per available event space at the hotel.
  • Whilst quoting for residential events and / or accommodation groups you will be working closely with the central Revenue Management team. Working in close collaboration with the proactive central sales team, you will be developing seasonal actions and relevant activities aimed at increasing share of business at the hotel and foster close engagement with the market.
  • You will be required to use relevant software and online tools, both for quotations and event space pricing.
  • You will be responsible for reporting, pace analysis, forecasting. You will be expected to offer business analytics with a mid and long-term view, alerting the sales team of need periods.
  • You will be fostering and personally demonstrating highest standards of teamwork, customer focus, commercial acumen and loyalty.
  • Your success in the role will be determined also by your ability to multi-task, dealing with multiple parties often concurrently; to perform under pressure and to remain calm.

About You:


  • Currently working in sales, event sales, diary management, or a senior sales role within events sales, within a 4 or 5 Star hotel or an events venue in Central London, with a success record and strong experience in team management.
  • Excellent communicator, with active listening skills, with logic and strong commercial acumen.
  • You have strong network of clients, can represent the May Fair Hotel and Edwardian at external industry events and fam trips, you are an eloquent and well – presented professional.
  • Able to provide efficient and reliable customer experience, sell in a consulting way, promoting relevant Edwardian Hotels London services. Ability to generate new revenue opportunities including repeat business, up-selling services, including but not limited to F&B and accommodation revenue.
  • You are a keen user of tech, have technical knowledge of booking systems including Opera and Delphi and others, subject to business requirements, you understand distribution platforms in events and groups.
  • You have and can demonstrate in the interview your excellent time management skills and organisational awareness.
  • You have very good knowledge of the competitive market in London within the landscape of 5-star hotels suitable for groups and events; Excellent understanding of corporate and social events market, capacities and various events set-up options, allocation and room blocks management, creativity and attention to detail.
  • The role may often require working outside of normal office hours depending on the event requirements.
  • You are a positive and a reliable individual, happy to work as part of a team and / or lead a team, you are self-motivated and organised professional, with passion for hospitality industry. You are career oriented, driven by success and achievements, you have genuine interest in food, events, travel experiences, people and hospitality.
