The University’s executive leadership has been through a considerable period of change over the last few years in order to create a structure which better serves a medium-sized institution with a growing and more diverse portfolio of educational, research, commercial and community activities. The Vice Chancellor’s Office maintains general oversight of all of the work of the University and acts as the key interface between the University and the external environment. It also acts as a two-way channel of communication around the University.

Applications are invited for the position of Executive Assistant to provide additional support to the the University. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive individual with proven experience of supporting a senior colleague in Higher Education or similar environment. The applicant will demonstrate high levels of professionalism in dealing with confidential matters, strong communication skills and attention to detail, as well as being comfortable working with senior internal and external colleagues. The post holder will become a member of the wider team of the EA/PA professional support team, meeting on a regular basis.

The Executive Assistant will act as one of the key contacts for all external and internal enquiries to the Vice Chancellor’s Office and will therefore be expected to contend with a wide range of urgent, sensitive and confidential matters, in a highly pressurised environment. The ability to be proactive and self-motivated when dealing with such enquiries, together with possessing the initiative, confidence and sound judgement to prioritise and cope with the variety and complexity of the issues which arise are essential attributes in this role. An acute awareness of the need to maintain confidentiality, together with a willingness and enthusiasm to embrace change are essential in this role.
