Support Worker who is compassionate, supportive with strong communication skills is required for a well-established mental health charity based in Islington, London.

FULL TRAINING PROVIDED

The organisation will provide full training. However, experience supporting people with mental illness or experience providing care and/or support services within another social care setting in either a paid or voluntary capacity would be extremely desirable.

SALARY: £20,079- £22,507 per annum + up to £3,000 per annum with regular sleep ins and unsocial hourly payments + £1,000 Sign On Bonus + Benefits

LOCATION: Islington, London

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent (Part-Time Positions Considered)

WORKING HOURS: 35 Hours per Week (Part-Time roles less than 35 Hours per Week)

TYPICAL SHIFT PATTERNS INCLUDE: Earlies 8am – 4pm, Lates 2pm – 10pm, Sleep Ins between 10pm and 7am and Evening Shifts 1.30pm – 9.30pm

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Support Worker who is compassionate, supportive with strong communication skills to join the organisation’s friendly and welcoming team.

Working as a Support Worker you will work as part of a small team in a home from home environment where no two days will be the same.

As the Support Worker you will join a service based in Islington that has been provided for over 20 years. The organisation is excited to have recently won the contract to provide this service. The service provides specialist support to people aged 50 + with a primary diagnosis of mental ill health.

As a successful candidate you will provide an outcome focused support in a welcoming, safe, non-judgemental environment which is conducive to the personal growth and wellbeing of the residents. The holistic way of working considers all aspects of residents lives, rather than focusing solely on their diagnosis. The organisation work collaboratively with agencies and services in the community and involve the resident in a recovery model approach. This involves the use of regularly reviewed support plans tailored to personal needs and wishes.

How will you make a difference as a Support Worker within the organisation?

Provide key worker support to individuals living with mental illness, including one to one individual or group support, liaising with other mental health agencies on behalf of people who use the services

Support individuals with their personal care and maintaining their living environment

Develop a rapport based on respect and honesty, the post holder will at all times work within clear professional boundaries and the organisation’s Mental Illness Code of Conduct

Enable and encouraging individuals to participate in a range of activities both in the service and in the community
