eHarley Street is a centralised Practice Management team responsible for providing services to multiple practices across the UK.

We are constantly growing and evolving and are now looking to add the role of Medical Coder to our central team.

We are based in Hinckley, Leicestershire and currently support a patient base of over 40,000. Our Central Coder would support the existing coders to maintain the daily and weekly activities required of each practice.

The suitable candidate will be enthusiastic, experienced and can work either full or part time. You will be able to compile a comprehensive and chronological medical summary from the patient record and input this into the patient computer records utilising the Good Practice guidelines. And most importantly, you will have experience of using a UK based coding system i.e. Systmone, EMIS, Vision.

The successful candidate will have a clinical background and have previous experience of working in a clinical setting or experience of using clinical coding systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing records and accurately producing a summary of the patient’s medical history
  • To help ensure other staff members are aware and understand the importance of coding correctly
  • Accurately read-coding data on SystmOne into the patient record
  • Identifying relevant clinical information documented in patient correspondence, coding appropriately and completing any detailed actions.
  • Reviewing progress of summarising ensuring practice targets are achieved
  • Review all clinical letters ensuring they are processed appropriately, in line with extant protocols
  • File and store records as required
  • Action all incoming emails and mail in a timely manner
  • Input and extract data as required to support practice reports

Essential Skills:

  • Effective communication skills
  • Good IT skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and read code systems
  • Ability to use own judgement and work without direct supervision to determine workload priorities and achieve targets/deadlines
  • High level of attention to detail

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 20 per week

Salary: £11.00-£12.00 per hour
