Our Cambridge based client is an expanding Biotech company that focuses on the development of a next generation microfluidic platform. Using software-based technology, they have developed a highly innovative method to precisely manipulate individual cell and reagent-containing microdroplets. To support their expansion plans, they are looking to appoint a Health and Safety manager on a full time or part time basis to take responsibility for all H&S related task, documentation and ensure the labs operate at the needed safety standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Promoting a collaborative and transparent Health, Safety, and Wellbeing culture across the business
• Developing and updating our Policy, Code of Practice, and Standard Operating Procedures
• Providing all relevant H&S training including Biological Safety, First Aid, Fire Marshall, and Chemical Spill
• Regularly reviewing the policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant legislation
• Completing Site Safety inspections and auditing
• Ongoing risk assessment to identify any gaps, and plan ahead for continuity of safety in a scaling business

Ideal Candidate:

• BSc (or equivalent) in Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field
• A relevant industry qualification such as NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)
• Experience managing health and safety in a Life Science, Pharmaceutical or Manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations
• People management experience is needed as the team grows
• Ability to communicate and report effectively to the business on H&S issues
• Experience working in and being responsible for a multi-site environment

Please note due to the organisation have 2 locations in the Cambridge there will be some travel required to both sites.
