Job Description:
The post-holder will be part of a multi-disciplinary team (Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, and Physiotherapists) which provides a health and social care service to the local community. In general Occupational Therapists will:
- be expected to care coordinate a caseload of people with varied complexity of needs.
Occupational Therapists at the higher grade will be expected to support those at the lower grade with complex cases as directed by the Team Manager.
The Occupational Therapist plays a lead role in coordinating the care and support for users (and their carers/ families) pulling in the expertise of other professionals as required.
They will also be responsible for accurate and comprehensive inputting of case management information for monitoring and planning purposes.
The post-holder will aim to provide an efficient and cost effective health and social care service to service users, carers and their families, in accordance with agreed threshold criteria and using appropriate resources of Social Services, Health, the Council, the community and other non-statutory organisations.
Occupational Therapists will be expected to adhere to the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) standards of proficiency for Occupational Therapists.
The postholder will be responsible for maintaining Continuous Professional Development (CPD) as required to maintain their registration.
Islington has adopted The College of OT’s Code of Continuing Professional Development for OTs and expect OTs to ensure they work to the required competencies which can be found on the website of the College.
Occupational Therapists will be required to attend post qualification training as required by the service.
The post-holder may be required to work flexibly over a 7 day working week to fit in with the needs of the service
