Applications are invited for a 1-year placement in the Nuclear Medicine Physics department at the Royal Surrey County Hospital. The post is offered at Band 2 and would be suitable for an undergraduate Physics student seeking a year-in-industry placement as part of their degree course, or a recent Physics graduate or school leaver seeking paid work experience in the field of Medical Physics.

Nuclear Medicine uses radioactive materials to diagnose and treat disease. It is a multi-disciplinary field, synergising expertise from clinicians, technologists and physicists. This role is based within the Nuclear Medicine Physics section of the Royal Surreys Medical Physics department and there are also opportunities to work with colleagues in radiotherapy, radiation protection and computer science. We have hosted undergraduate placement students for the last 5 years.

You will join our team of 17 dynamic and friendly Medical Physicists and technologists who provide scientific support to the Royal Surrey County Hospital, five regional Nuclear Medicine Departments and a number of private clients. At the Royal Surrey the Physics team supports three SPECT/CT gamma cameras (including one with state-of-the-art solid state detector technology), as well as running a comprehensive Molecular Radiotherapy service. We provide scientific support for a number of PET/CT scanners as part of private contracts.
